Your support is appreciated!

BOARD ELECTIONS

Granby Rovers has concluded elections for the Board of Directors for the 2011-2012 year, and I am pleased to welcome Lindsay Sessions as Secretary, Laurie Schock as Registrar and Eva Storrs as WebMaster to the board for the upcoming year. I would like to thank them, and extend my appreciation to all those who expressed an interest in serving on the board. The strength of the Granby Rovers Soccer Club is based on its foundation of volunteers, and for that I am grateful.

President, Jamie Ranicar

REFEREE ENTRY LEVEL CLINIC

Interested in becoming a referee?
There are basically two places to get the information you will need to understand how to become certified.

The first place is right here on this website.
The information posted below will give an overview.

After reading the introduction to refereeing below, if you feel you are interested, you will need to visit www.CTreferee.net, where you will select the link called “CSRP Entry Level Clinics” and follow the instructions.  On that website, you will learn that Grade 8 ("Grade 8" refers to the US Soccer Federation Referee grade, not your current school grade level) Referee - Entry Level Training is now OPEN for registration!!! Candidates for Grade 8 Referee Entry Level Training must be 13 years old by June 30, 2012. It is imperative that you READ the documents on the website and finish your training on or before December 31.

The Entry Level Clinic will train individuals wishing to referee youth games. To become a certified referee, you must:

  • Be 13 years old by June 30 of following the year
  • Pay a clinic fee of $79.75
  • Complete and pass all training modules
  • Attend the field session
  • Pass final exam with grade of 75% or better

Topics include instruction on the Diagonal System of Control (using three officials), fouls and misconduct, offside, Referee and Assistant Referee duties and responsibilities. Upon successful completion and registration with USSF and CSRP the individual may officiate all levels of youth games as a Referee or Assistant Referee. You will start refereeing during the Spring 2012 soccer season, which begins in April of next year.  You will typically be paid about $20 - $25 per game.  All the information you will need for refereeing for the Rovers (like uniform requirements, pay for games, assignment opportunities, etc.) will be sent to you as soon as your referee certification is complete.  If you have any questions that are not answered by the CTreferee website, please direct them to . If you do become a referee, please send an email to so your name can be added to the list of current referees!
